Hello,
This is KOTO Kyoto.
On my day off today, some exciting news reached us!
Biwako Canal Facilities Designated as National Treasures
Five sites of the Biwako Canal Facilities have just been designated as National Treasures.
Remarkably, these are the first modern civil engineering structures in Japan to receive this honor.
Nanzenji Aqueduct
Many of you may already know the Nanzenji Aqueduct.
It was built to carry water from Lake Biwa into Kyoto city, made of red bricks with beautiful arch shapes.
The scenery changes with the seasons, but it is especially breathtaking during the autumn foliage season.
The Incline
Another famous spot is the Incline, often featured in films and TV dramas.
My recommendation is to visit in springtime, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
The Tunnels
In addition,
-
The First Biwako Canal Tunnel
-
The Second Biwako Canal Tunnel
-
The Third Biwako Canal Tunnel
have also been newly designated as National Treasures.
Perfect for Autumn Walks
With this recognition, the Nanzenji and Okazaki areas will surely become even more popular.
Why not enjoy a walk this autumn through Nanzenji, Eikando, and Ginkakuji?
🌟 By the way, these stunning locations are also where we shoot our collections.
