OKUIZOME-ZEN set

$112.00

It is a white wood-lacquered Kui-Hatsuzen set (Kui-Hatsumen and Tabe-Hatsumen) set.

“Okuizome” (first meal) is the Japanese traditional ritual that parents perform around the 100th day after the birth of their baby (in some regions, this ritual is carried out on the 110th or 120th day) along with their relatives and friends to wish the infant will never starve by sharing a celebratory meal.

The celebratory meal is in the traditional “one soup and three dishes” style and generally consists of rice cooked with red beans (or plain rice), whole grilled fish such as snapper, soup, ‘nimono’ (simmered food), and pickles, which are eaten with celebratory chopsticks made of willow.

It will be a set meal at the beginning of the meal, so it is perfect for creating a special day for your birthday.

In general, boys start eating from the red bowl and girls from the black bowl.
